Oh Boy has things been tough

Sorry for not posting in a while, But things have been real hectic, I hurt my hip, now its my lower back, I have really eased off the running, I have had a few stressful situations arise nothing to do with middleboro or casinos Just life coming at me full force. Nothing that can't be handled though. I will be updating this when I have a chance thanks for the encouragement but good oppurtunities arose that means more time on my part, need to rest when I can. I cannot afford to be laid up in pain right now so I'm letting off the excersise for a while. No smoking I did relapse and bummed a cigg ,I needed a crutch but it didn't taste good so I through it away. I just have to remember a cigg will not help the stressful situations that arise, I don't need a crutch..

Raining 4:20 AM

Very easy run today, Cool and rainy outside, I really needed to get out there, I didn't want another day off. First mile went real smooth, Walked 2nd, 3rd jog ,4th walked. I did add a little sprinting in I would finish up my mile with a fast run, and my walk with a power walk. I see myself jogging the 4 miles very slow to start very soon.

Today will be a rest day, Its raining. After two days of doing 4 miles its probably a good idea. If I end up hurting myself, I would have a lot more days off than I would like. I find reading about running and different routines helps keep you motivated. When I did this before I had no blog it really helps to see people reading and commenting. Its a positive motivation thats for sure.
Thank You.

Today was an awsome run left the house at 4am, The first mile was just like walking nothing hurt, breathing was great and before I knew it I was at mile 2, one thing I'm going to do today is mark out another route, I do not like running the back roads in the dark, This morning a chicken or pheasant was in the grass along side of the road and when I went by came flapping out behind me, LOL! I'm not going to admit online what feeling went through me at that moment, But lets just say I won't be on backroads any longer unless its light out. All in all I walked back in the house after 4 miles at 5AM I am such a morning person.

05/3/4/09

It was a rough busy weekend. Saturday was an off day, I did a night out and didn't get in till 5AM Sunday morning and that threw my whole day off so, I made it into another rest day.

Today o5/04/09 I did 4 miles, 1st mile jogging,2nd walking, 3rd jogged and 4th walked. Thank God, because I didn't realize my 4th mile I have marked off is 90% upgrade so walking it at a brisk pace is probably the same as my slow jog. 4 miles. felt real good it was nice and cool out, the two days rest really helped accomplish this.

I will be doing this for the next couple weeks before I add anything else to the mix.

05/02/09

Today I will take a nice rest day, not going to do anything. tomorrow I will be doing 4 slowww miles, 1 mile running , 1 mile walking etc! Its time to take this to the next level. Wally made a comment about after 3 days you will feel better he is correct, The 3rd day I jogged, I did 2 miles out and back. My legs are not as sore now, I have been stretching throughout the day.

"You exercise so intensely that your muscles burn and you gasp for breath. Then you slow down for a minute or two, catch your breath, and then go very fast again. This training technique has been used in all endurance sports since the 1920's. This is why interval training makes you a better athlete".

Weigh in week (1) 242 a 4 lb loss in 7 days, Jogged 2 miles today out and back nice and slow, Have to keep the pace down, I listen to the radio and go with the beat, so if a good song comes on I seem to run with the tempo and next thing I know I'm out of breath, Then again I hate concentrating on the pace! All in all it was a good week, Lost some weight, Quit smoking, what more can you ask for in week one?

Let me say one thing Stretch Stretch Stretch its so important before and after every workout.. Today I jogged the full 2 miles same as yesterday, I am probably over doing it just starting out, I do not recommend this for a beginner. I would start walking for a week or 2 then work in a little jogging. If you find what your doing uncomfortable stop and walk. This should be totally enjoyable for you. Me I'm on a mission.. The first mile was very hard everything hurts and its hard to keep going, You just have to push through that, slow down breath deep into your belly and I promise it will get better. At the mile mark is when I settled in and everything was working in sync, This is where running is the coolest feeling. there is nothing like it.. The hardest part is to run a slow pace.. I get into the music and next thing I know I'm out of breath, I have to work on my pace this is not a race its all about getting out there and just doing it..
Protein shake after a run is a good thing, Protein and rest helps heal those muscles.
Today is one week with no cigarettes..

I felt awsome this morning! Yesterday was a nice rest day, good food and just an all around fun day with friends and the kids. This Morning as I write this with a tear of joy in my eye, I did it! I jogged for 2 miles straight without stopping, I slowed down a little and just did it, I felt so good at the mile I turned around and just jogged back. It feels good to be out there running again. I started supplements today big glass of protien, skim milk, Anti oxidants, Vitamin and Iron tablet. The hardest part of running is focusing on something other than your head telling you to stop, walk it will feel good, When I get like that I slow down till I breath good and it just feels normal to be bouncing along in tune with the music.
Update, Went for a 4 mile bike ride in the afternoon. Lungs are getting clear breathing is coming back, I'm suprised at no coughing..

2006 picture wieght 330 Lbs
Today, I seen where my mile is really at ,I jogged all the way out to my mile mark, 11:35 not bad for my 3rd day. stepped on the scale even though I said I wouldn't till next week, 244 down 2 lbs yea!! I picked up a radio and it made running that mile a lot easier. I used to do this before I got married I was up to 13 miles at one time so this running thing is nothing new to me. I really believe muscle has memory and it wont be long till I'm back to a nice 4-5 mile run in the morning. One step at a time, though no need to rush.

04/26/09

Very warm out 80s, jogged out 1 mile and pretty much walked back. Feels real good to be jogging again.. 30 Min total..

04/25/09

This picture was from 2006, Weight 330Lbs. For some reason this was brought up in some on-line blog and it really brought me back. I searched out this picture and posted it and said whoa!! I do not want to ever get that big again. Right now My weight is 246, I used to smoke, I can say that now, I'm off ciggs 3 days and going right out of my mind, So I decided, I would do something more positive with my life. Get healthy..
Today, April 25th 2009 I took my first walk/run in almost 7 years, I forgot how long a mile is, My goal today was to just to get out there and do it. I reached my goal. I went out 1 mile and came back. My time alloted for this was to do it in a 1/2 hour. 15 minute miles. I beat that easy which you would think is a miracle seeing I smoked almost 2 packs a day and I'm so out of shape.
I will be updating this daily, I'm hoping to get to 210LBs size 34 pants in 90 days that will be a 36 lb drop. Right now I'm edging 38 pants Everyone knows the first 2 weeks of dieting and excersise you loose a whole bunch, I'm hoping to drop the first 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I shall see.
I love running and my 90 day goal will be to get my Jogging up to 4 miles continuous and within a 45 minute time frame.
